Development

We oversee every aspect of hotel development, from land acquisition to opening. This includes navigating municipality entitlements, designing according to franchise brand standards, and ensuring a smooth process from start to finish.​

Construction

In addition to our development expertise, we also act as the general contractor for our hotel projects. By managing construction in-house through our subsidiary, Novel Construction, we streamline the construction process and reduce costs, providing us with a significant competitive edge.

Champak Patel

Founder & Principal

Champak founded Milkam Hospitality in 1987 with the development of his first property - a 26-unit independent hotel in Henderson, NC. Over the years, Champak expanded the business and developed multiple franchised hotels. He has over 30 years of experience and provides the overall vision of the company. He is highly experienced in development and management and has a keen understanding of what it takes to develop a hotel that yields a strong ROI and manage a hotel that provides excellent customer service.

 

Champak holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology and a M.S. in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University.

Milan Patel

Principal

Milan is a Principal of Milkam Hospitality, leading the strategic direction of the company. Since officially joining the company in 2008, he has been instrumental in guiding Milkam Hospitality through a period of significant growth and transformation.

 

Milan oversees all aspects of Milkam Hospitality, including financial management, construction management, operational strategy, and the implementation of growth initiatives, all guided by his industry insights.

 

With a strong track record of success and a hands-on approach to leadership, Milan fosters a culture of excellence and collaboration within the organization, ensuring that Milkam Hospitality meets its goal of delivering exceptional service and value to its guests.


Milan holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in finance from East Carolina University.

Kamal Patel

Principal

Kamal Patel is a Principal of Milkam Hospitality responsible for various functions of the company. His key responsibilities include underwriting new opportunities, financial planning and strategy, managing ground-up development, revenue management,  and orchestrating operational initiatives. 

 

Kamal has extensive experience in real estate banking and private equity. He has been responsible for the direct oversight, management, and resolution for $350MM+ of distressed commercial real estate loans. Additionally, he has been directly involved with the management of several large real estate developments across the country. 

​

Kamal holds a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Neha Patel

Controller

Neha serves as the Controller at Milkam Hospitality, where she brings a robust background in hotel management to her oversight of financial operations. She directs internal controls, cash management, and compliance efforts, ensuring operational efficiency and financial integrity. Neha also manages administrative functions and accounts payable, maintaining meticulous standards for timely and accurate vendor payments while fostering strong supplier relationships.

Neha holds a B.S. in Microbiology from Oregon State University.
